Aspiring April Escalante Ut

April is a splendid month to spend in Escalante, Utah. The cacti are blooming, canyons glow with soft orange light and the rivers are calmly running.

Calf Creek Frozen Falls Escalante Ut

Hiking Lower Calf Creek in the wintertime is a joyous adventure not had by many. The trail to lower Calf Creek falls is at times snow-covered or hard-packed sand, making for easy foot travel. Calf Creek is flowing sweetly between banks of Willow or leaf-less Cottonwood trees. After hiking (or running) 3 miles, we were rewarded with icicles and tumbling ice from tiers of cascading water. The Falls gush water through blockades of frozen dripping ice. Come see for yourself.

Spooky Slot Canyon Escalante Utah

Peek-a-Boo and Spooky slot canyons are the most popular slot (you can touch both sides) canyons in the Escalante & Boulder Utah area. These two canyons are a must to explore before finding other sites to tour. Photo by Mark Saunto April 25, 2012.
