Apricot Blooms

The Apricot trees in Escalante are blooming. Don't know how much longer the flowers can hang on, as it is gusty and temperatures are dropping tomorrow.

Spring is Here!

Spring is starting!  Some of the willow trees in town are showing green and the daffodils are coming up in front of the post office.

Hole in the Rock Road is in good condition.  Spooky & Peekaboo slot canyons may be a bit muddy in some areas.  The Visitor Center will have up to date information  435-826-5499.

The weather for the next couple of days looks great for a visit to Escalante and Boulder.  Escalante will be 70ish degrees Friday and Saturday.  Sunday, the temp drops about 20 degrees, so pack and plan your time accordingly.  Weather is scheduled to peak up nicely on Tuesday back up to 70ish, 1st week of April.

Come visit this slick rock paradise!

Snow

Escalante and Boulder received about 1 foot of snow around a month ago and there are still a couple of inches left to melt.  The weather can not be beat with blue sunny skies and temperatures around 50 degrees this week.  Perfect for overland hiking out on the desert.

As of 12/29/11, Davis Gulch has alot of water in it, so keep this in mind when thinking about hiking in a slot canyon this time of year.  Spooky & Peekaboo may also have water in them and it will be very very cold.  Be sure to check current conditions at our local visitor center before heading out.  435-826-5499.

Farmer's Market

Yesterday morning, Saturday, the Escalante Farmer's Market had several local vendors selling their fresh crops.  One vendor even had wild Chanterelle Mushrooms that were picked fresh off of our mountain.  There was everything from yellow corn to purple potatoes and while carrots.  Come check it out next Saturday morning!
